Autumn’s departure

mark winter’s onset
There are those who want the spring without the winter. The sun without the rain. Stars, moon and such without the night. But without the darkness, you never really know how bright the days are, you never appreciate the first flower of spring.
Winter has arrived in Wisconsin. As a lover of all the seasons, I was excited for and surprised by the first snowfall of the year. An early morning walk showed the death of autumn covered by a cozy white blanket until spring.
Winter is a difficult time. The cold air, treacherous weather and never-ending nights cause individuals to go slightly mad. We find our own ways to get through. When the snow finally dispenses and the days recapture their longevity, we will appreciate the mid-50 temperatures and resume our play outdoors.
